Departments group your agents by function — Sales, Research, Content, Operations, or anything custom. Assigning agents to departments is what gives your org chart its shape.

Steps

  1. Open an agent from your Orbits list or the org chart.
  2. Set its Department field. Pick an existing department or create a new one.
  3. Optionally mark one agent per department as the lead.
  4. Save. The agent moves into that department on your org chart.

Why departments help

Once you’re running more than a few agents, function-based grouping makes the workforce legible: you can see at a glance which areas are covered, which are thin, and who leads each. It also makes broadcasting to a whole function — “all Sales agents, pause outreach today” — straightforward.
